MyMemory: You’ll remember an idea that’s grown…

In 2003, when the Internet was, to some extent, still in its infancy and broadband wasn’t quite established developed an online business for their client MyMemory. In this article we’ll tell the story of how the brand has grown and what happens next for one of the leading online retailers.

At the start, the timing couldn’t have been better – MyMemory sell, among other things Memory Cards for digital cameras and as the switch from traditional film to digital cameras took off MyMemory were in pole position within the marketplace having just launched their website and invested time and effort in achieving good search engine positioning.

In the early years MyMemory identified that it takes more than just a website to become an online success – the additional services that iWeb offered – such as Search Engine Optimisation and online marketing consultancy are what helped to continue the pursuit of market dominance. They were also at the forefront of eCommerce design – when most eCommerce retailers had quite basic “off the shelf” websites, the MyMemory website was cutting edge.

Over the years MyMemory have continued to reinvest into their online presence and worked with iWeb continuously tweaking the design and customer-orientated features on the website. Offering the best customer service along with competitive prices has been the key to MyMemory’s success. They also took full advantage of new routes to market, such as Amazon Marketplaces and eBay – they were one of the first companies to participate in these avenues and they have reaped the rewards.

Of late, the traffic the website gets has plateaued as they appear “page one” in the Search Engines for many of their desired key phrases, the full emphasis of the continued work is to ensure a smooth and streamlined shopping experience. Using software to identify and track visitor’s interaction MyMemory are able to refine the structure of the website in order to convert more visitors into buying customers.

Over the next month MyMemory will be launching personalised photo website allowing a one-stop-shop for both Memory Cards and Photo products. This is just the next phase of an ever-evolving website that has seen the founder of MyMemory move from trading as an individual to employing team of over 30 staff. The MyMemory website has seen year on year growth and now receives over 20,000 visitors per day.
