As part of the hosting department we’re often asked to do things at short notice.  So when the team behind Ridley Scott and Kevin Macdonald’s “Life in a Day” YouTube project asked us if we could produce them a bespoke file upload system – we were more than happy to take up the challenge!

Life In A Day is a historic global experiment to create a user-generated documentary film shot in a single day. On 24 July 2010, anyone and everyone had 24 hours to capture a glimpse of their life on camera.  Video footage is now being uploaded from contributors around the world and the most compelling and distinctive footage will be edited into an experimental documentary film.

Life in a Day already use our product for accepting video contributions, but felt that a simpler interface would be better suited for their needs on this project.  So we took their requirements, coded a solution and rolled out a 500 gigabyte dedicated virtual server – all in less than a day.  One happy client and a warm satisfied feeling for us!
