Radioplayer, the partnership between the BBC’s radio department and commercial radio organisations, is now live on the web.
The player offers both online radio listening and the ability to search for content across a number of different radio stations — both BBC-run and commercial. You can bookmark any favourite stations, to allow easy access to them later.
Dave Price, the BBC’s iPlayer product lead, wrote in a blog post: “Radioplayer is the culmination of a successful partnership between the BBC and commercial radio to provide consumers with an attractive proposition for easy online radio listening and an easy-to-use application that allows quick navigation between stations and search function across radio stations online.”
Individual stations can customise some of the content around the player, slapping on their branding, and there’s also a metadata specification available so that commercial partners can make their content more accessible to search engines.
