As part of the Broxap group of companies, William James & Co of Bridport, Dorset has been supplying products to keen gardeners for 60 years. In particular, they specialise in netting, cages and tunnels to protect plants – with netting being a historic tradition in the company’s home town. They came to iWeb for a web site that would acknowledge that rustic heritage, but also take advantage of the latest developments in online e-commerce.
Although the William James & Co already had an existing web site based on Magento – the world’s most popular eCommerce platform – they recognised that it could perform better. That also felt that a new design from iWeb’s talented team would freshen up and improve the company’s online presence. We provided a new look with a traditional illustrative style and colour scheme that’s attractive to dedicated gardeners and growers.
In practical business terms, William James & Co didn’t just want a pretty web site, but one that would also encourage sales and conversions. This is where iWeb’s years of experience in eCommerce solutions came to the fore and we were able to provide advice on a strategy that would take the company forward. The new site is powered by the latest version of Magento customised with the many open source plug-ins available.
We’ve streamlined the ordering process so that all product and pricing options are made clear by clicking a button. We’ve also included full Sagepay integration, so that customers may add products to their ‘barrow’ and quickly pay for them with all the most popular transaction methods.
To further engage the audience of keen gardeners, we’ve also added a blog, offering news and gardening tips. This encourages visitors to return to the web site regularly.
With the William James & Co web site, iWeb has demonstrated how we can combine a traditional look with cutting edge eCommerce features. If you’d like to know how we can grow your business too, why not get in touch?
