What a distance, what a conference!

I recently embarked on a massive 8174km journey into the unknown. Ok, so the journey was by Jet, and the unknown was Magento’s Imagine eCommerce conference in Las Vegas!

This is Magento’s annual flagship conference, which was held this year at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Over 2,000 merchants, partners and developers were present, which meant there was a fantastic opportunity to network, and for me to be inspired by where the platform is being taken, and by what others are doing with it.

Some headlines figures from the show:

240,000+ business’s across the globe are using Magento Community edition to power their eCommerce solutions.

2,800 merchants are using Enterprise edition, which is almost twice the growth since the last Imagine conference.

The growth is phenomenal, and reinforces everything we believe, that Magento is an immensely powerful platform that is the right choice for merchants, small or large. There has certainly been a shift over the last number of years, from enquiries where we had to educate them to what Magento is, to them already knowing all about Magento.

I took away from the show a plethora of information from the keynotes, breakout sessions and also from the various vendors in the marketplace. I’ve been able to come back armed with exciting new products and add-ons that I can discuss with our clients, to enhance their Magento stores, and ultimately further increase their sales and profits.

A personal favourite from the conference was Carey Lohrenz‘s talk about her journey to becoming the worlds first female F-14 Tomcat Fighter Pilot in the US Navy. There were many parallels drawn between the challenges she faced in her story, and those that we experience within our own businesses. It was very inspirational, and I’ve certainly come back from the conference more focussed than ever. As Carey would say ‘Fear hates focus’!

See you next year Vegas!
