Getting Personal with YourDesign

YourDesign have been a client at iWeb for over 13 years and it’s fair to say it’s been a fruitful partnership. However, we’re here to celebrate more than just a milestone partnership – we’re excited to announce the launch of a brand new Magento website for YourDesign!

The Challenge

The personalised gifts market is fast moving and highly competitive. YourDesign knew they could get a competitive edge by launching a site equipped with all the tools to make their customers’ buying experience an easy and enjoyable one.

  1. Work brilliantly on all devices. Responsive design? Yes, of course, but that’s a given. The product customisation tool – i.e uploading images, text and colour changes – all needed to work seamlessly on mobile.
  2. Secure, speedy checkout. A clear 4-stage checkout, making the barrier to checkout as low as possible.
  3. SEO optimised. Visibility in search engines is crucial to YourDesign’s success, a major on-page optimisation task was needed to give them the foundations for success.

Product Customisation

Using a separate bespoke Javascript App in combination with the Magento platform either side, this unique product customisation feature took a huge amount of time and effort to perfect – but we think it was totally worth it!

Responsive Design

The new site design has now been optimised for all mobile devices, such as phones and tablets, which means that people can now shop and personalise on the go with YourDesign. 

Marketing Messages Across Site In Header

Having these alternating marketing messages flashing across the site header not only gives the site more movement and depth, but it also encourages customers to check out the YourDesign social pages – helping them to connect with more people!

Multifaceted Search

1.   Elastic Search

An advanced search bar that is located at the top right of the YourDesign site and takes products directly from Magento. It comes up with more advanced search results and product listings that are more accurate.

2.   Navigation Search

This drop down menu is a standard navigation feature on any Magento site, however, for YourDesign it was vital. The Create/Shop split navigation element when compared to the navigation complexity on the previous site, makes product location a breeze, due to the clearly defined and locatable gift categories.

Secure, Streamlined Checkout

The checkout process had a complete reconfiguration to make it more streamlined and transparent for YourDesign customers.

The checkout process now has a clear 4-stage flow to it, where customers can see the checkout journey before them, to help combat basket abandonment rates.

For the first time, changes can be made to an order whilst in the checkout process. This includes not just the quantity but also the size of the garments selected.

The flexi-basket feature is useful for a business like YourDesign, especially for users who are looking to bulk buy for hen or stag events.

This feature helps to keep the customer informed throughout every stage of the checkout and buying process (as additions can now be made at the basket stage) whether they qualify for free delivery or not. It updates depending on basket total.

When the user clicks ‘continue’, which takes them on to the final ‘payment’ step, the user is able to stay on the same page, as the payment fields appear at the bottom.

This same page payment feature which is supplied by Braintree, gives the user a feeling of ease, that they’re staying on the same page to complete checkout, as well as an added layer of confidence.

Payment methods like the one offered by Braintree help to create customer confidence and decreases basket abandonment rates.

One you have completed your card details for each line of detail, there is an automatic validation feature which tells you instantly if they are correct or not. This comes in the form of a green tick.

This helps to speed up the checkout process, ensuring that if a user enters their details incorrectly they won’t have to re-enter them in the submission if they’re rejected due to error.

Crafty Clicks

Functioning as a postcode database, craft clicks allows customers to start putting in their postcode/company address during the ‘Billing’ part of checkout and it comes back with suggestions based on what they’ve typed.

This feature is intended to make the boring task of filling in your details quicker and more convenient. You can also choose to enter everything manually if for some reason your address isn’t listed.

Mailchimp

For all YourDesign marketing needs, iWeb introduced MailChimp, the world’s largest marketing automation platform.

Related Products

The ‘related products’ feature from MailChimp helps YourDesign to understand what their customers are most likely to buy. The automatic, built-in product recommendations help to generate personalised suggestions for customers based on past purchasing behaviour and present browsing behaviour, combined.
