  • Product Asset Manager
  • Rule Engine
  • Validation Workflow
  • Teamwork Assistant
  • Versioning & Publication
  • Reference Entities
  • Single Sign-on
  • Franklin Insights
  • Advanced Rights Management

Over the next few weeks, we’ll run through each of these features separately, explaining what they are and how they can help managing your product information much easier. This week, we’ll look at Advanced Rights Management.

About Advanced Rights Management

Advanced Rights Management is one of the most important features of Akeneo PIM as it allows you to create users and define their permissions for each type of action when managing product information.

View our video below to see just how easy it is to assign these roles and control who has what permissions to make edits to your product information.

When you have lots of users accessing data in your PIM, you want to be certain the level of security and accessibility to this information is controlled.

Using Akeneo’s Advanced Rights Management feature lets you manage the roles and permissions of who has access to the PIM and give control over who can manage your product data.

This includes selecting who has permission to make edits, enrich, delete or publish changes to product information.

When selecting roles for your team, you can decide which features are accessible to them and set up user groups to enable or disable who has access to specific product data.

These roles can be assigned to define rights by category, locale or attribute group.

Compared to the Community Edition of Akeneo, the Enterprise Edition lets you set user rights for interacting with many different parts of the application. Some of these include: attributes, categories, channels, families, groups, locals, products and reference entities.

What are the advantages of having Advanced Rights Management?

There are a variety of reasons why you should be using the Advanced Rights Management feature, including:

  • By creating different user types means you can add complex teams with different types of users with different permissions and roles.
  • You can create a hierarchy with users with more authority having more permissions and those with less authority having fewer permissions.
  • You can easily restrict access to certain parts of the application to users who don’t have the authority or experience to use a certain part of the application.
