Established in 1999, Sweatband has grown from its origins as a specialist tennis equipment retailer into one of the UK’s leading online sports and fitness equipment merchants.
With more than two decades of trading, Sweatband has served over two million customers and combines an expansive product range with expert customer service at competitive prices. From cardio machines and strength-training kit to racket sports equipment, yoga accessories and nutrition products, the business offers an extensive catalogue under one roof. Sweatband also curates its own brands—including Half Human, DKN and Viavito—bringing premium design and value to home-gym enthusiasts and fitness professionals alike.
As the brand expanded online and across product categories, the complexity of managing thousands of SKUs, multiple brands and detailed specifications increased. High expectations around product detail, imagery, specification and multi-brand coordination meant that Sweatband recognised the need for a unified, scalable product information management platform.
This ambition led to a strategic partnership with iWeb, with the goal of implementing a robust PIM solution that could support Sweatband’s growth, ensure data accuracy, enhance the customer experience and reduce administrative overhead—while retaining the brand’s commitment to service, value and expertise.

In supporting Sweatband’s next stage of growth, iWeb brought deep experience with Akeneo PIM and worked closely with the Sweatband team to define a modern, flexible data architecture.
The aim was to transform Sweatband’s product data workflows—centralising product attributes, media assets, brand features and technical specifications into a single source of truth. By integrating Akeneo PIM into the existing e-commerce ecosystem, we enabled Sweatband to scale its catalogue, support rapid seasonal launches, manage brand complexity and distribute accurate, enriched product content across all channels.
Key deliverables included configuration of attribute sets for diverse sports equipment, automated onboarding of new SKUs, media asset management, translation workflows and structured exports to channels and merchandising tools. The platform supports both the breadth of Sweatband’s offering and the depth of specification its customers expect, giving the business a digital foundation to grow with confidence.
The Product Experience (Px)
For Sweatband, the quality of product information directly impacts purchase confidence—especially given the high-value and specification-driven nature of much of their catalogue.
With the new Akeneo PIM system in place, every product listing benefits from consistent, complete and accurate data. Features such as specification tables, brand-certified images, performance metrics, customer ratings and attribute filters all feed into improved user journeys.
From home gym buyers comparing treadmills, to tennis players seeking rackets or strength-trainers outfitting studios, the data-rich experience ensures users can make informed decisions. Internally, the PIM system empowers merchandising, marketing and category teams to enrich, approve and publish products faster, with fewer errors and greater consistency.
